Jenny Sullivan-McNear

My love for pottery is rooted in the tactile joy of working with clay—feeling the earth take shape beneath my hands. Often, it’s the unexpected twists and "happy accidents" that lead me to create my most intriguing pieces, pushing me in new and exciting directions. I find endless inspiration in the Treasure Valley landscape, drawing from the natural beauty of Boise and its surroundings. There's something about the foothills, the river, and the wide-open sky that seeps into my work. As much as I love crafting everyday pieces—mugs, bowls, vases—I’m always exploring how to weave these local landscapes into my designs. It’s my way of celebrating where I live, and I hope to keep finding new ways to let Boise’s charm shine through. Whether it’s a piece for daily use or a more playful exploration of clay, wire, and light, I aim to create pottery that speaks to the heart and hands alike. My work reflects the balance between functionality and artistic expression, and I hope each piece brings a bit of Boise's soul into your home.

About Jenny Sullivan-McNear

Jenny Sullivan-McNear's journey with clay began over 20 years ago during high school under the guidance of BOSCO member Jerry Hendershot. Although she pursued a different artistic path in college, studying Theater at Portland State University, her love for ceramics never faded. After years of experimenting with clay on and off, she decided to fully embrace her passion and launched Sully's Ceramics in the fall of 2021.
Since then, Jenny has become a fixture in the local arts scene, participating in events like the Hyde Park Street Fair, Wintry Market, Flying M's Hip Holiday, and the Payette Lakes Art and Craft Fair in McCall, Idaho. With her functional pottery inspired by the Treasure Valley landscape, she creates pieces that blend art and practicality, making her work a perfect fit for any home.
