For the past several years, I have been painting watercolors of the Idaho landscape. I paint from photos I have taken while hiking in the areas around Boise, McCall, Ketchum/Sun Valley and Stanley. I have built a collection of paintings of places I love, which can be seen on my website. Having walked in, recreated in, and lived in Idaho for many years, I feel very connected to its landscape. I see geometrical forms in the hills and mountains that change shape and color with the time of day, the weather, and the seasons. I like to paint Idaho’s unique beauty: the mountains, the blue lakes, the alpine forests, the clear rivers, the high desert vistas, the vegetation, the rock formations, the wildflowers, and the wildlife. My goal is to make the painting as evocative of the place as I can so I can experience it again along with other viewers. My paintings art not generic landscapes of mountains and scenes that could be anywhere. They are quite detailed paintings of specific places in Idaho and people often recognize the locations. I have now started a series of paintings from our national parks. I also do abstract paintings with a technique called "pour" painting with several layers of paint. I currently sell cards and prints at the Boise Art Museum and original paintings through my website.
