I make traditional Venetian style masks, as learned from an Italian lifelong mask maker, and take great joy from the creative process. Classic Venetian masks are created using a variety of artistic skills. These include: sculpting with clay, plaster molds, Carta Lana paper inlays, and final embellishments using paper clay and acrylics. Making masks enriches my life, and I believe that my works of art also enrich the lives of others. "Give me a mask - And I will tell you the truth." -Oscar Wilde
Artistic expression has been an integral, foundational element to my life. Dating back to my early years first working with fine design within Neiman Marcus, and culminating with my art studio in Eureka Springs, Arkansas where I displayed my masks as well as artwork from local artists. The journey in between includes, but was not limited to, landscape design and architecture, intricate flower bouquets from my organic farm, home and interior design, and countless furniture restorations and creative projects.
My creative energies continue to be focused in diverse directions, but Venetian masks are my number one focus. The methods used to finalize the mask finishes are limitless, with only the base process remaining the same.
