Jeffery Oliver makes photographs and poems that wrestle the paradoxes of and relationships among perception and attention, natural and human-influenced environments, mundanity and wonder. His landscape photography comes from long bicycle treks through remote spaces in the American West where time is illuminated by light. His multimedia artworks have been published and performed across the West Coast from Los Angeles to Alaska.
Jeffery Oliver is a fine art landscape, street and conceptual photographer who experiments with what we think we see in the world literally in order to show beauty in the mundane and othered perspectives. Oliver works with digital and film cameras and prints using archival pigments digitally as well as alternative chemical printing techniques including gelatin silver, charcoal, and salt printing.
He earned an MFA in Creative Writing and Literary Arts with a focus on poetry from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2008 and received a BA in Music in 1995. He began a dedicated practice of fine art photography in 2017. Oliver has worked as a professional web designer, writer, photographer and communications expert since 2001.
