I paint because I love it! I’m drawn to the pure beauty found in materials that have lived a life. My work is inspired by weathered metals, the mystery of the ocean, and the natural forms found in nature. I’m especially interested in how time leaves its mark through patina, texture, erosion, and depth and I translate that into both abstract and representational paintings. Texture is at the core of my process. I build surfaces slowly, layering and shaping until each piece holds a sense of dimension you can feel before you ever touch it. Texture invites a level of unpredictability where control gives way to discovery, and the work reveals something beyond intention. I want my paintings to evoke the same feeling you get standing near the ocean, being surrounded by nature or running your hand across weathered steel, grounding, and impossible to fully replicate.
