I find interest in small details, and observing what remains of the evidence left behind. My work deals heavily with memory, including place and time, and the traces we are left with when a moment has passed.
Kayla Morgan grew up exploring the various landscapes of Idaho searching and digging for garnet, agate, quartz, and petrified wood with her grandfather. He taught her about the world by picking up what is so often overlooked, dismissed, or destroyed. Her interest in geology, the natural world, growth, and decay can be found throughout her work of both functional and sculptural pieces. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Ceramics Emphasis from Boise State University in the Fall of 2016. She was selected for National Association of Schools of Art and Design Commission (NASAD), the recipient of an Alexa Rose grant in 2019, and has showed and sold her work at several Juried Art Festivals and exhibitions throughout the Treasure Valley. She currently works as a full time potter in Garden City, Idaho.
