I’m intrigued with the properties of light and it’s interaction with matter. I like to explore how light passes through, bounces off, curves around, or reflects off of objects. I use Cyanotype and other alternative photographic processes, light sensitive materials and 3 dimensional components to manipulate certain properties of light to create images inspired by nature. The other medium I’m currently working with is Shibori printing. Traditional Shibori uses Indigo dye and layers of oxidation (repeated short exposures to air) to create its distinctive hue.
Both techniques use exposure to light and oxygen making the process tricky and hard to duplicate results. But I like the challenge of creating with unpredictable materials.
