I took my first art class when I was thirty years old. I walked into the local art store clutching my supply list with stars in my eyes. The owner, seeing I was a student, asked if he could help. I smiled and said, "Yes, as soon as I touch every single thing in this store." From that moment I have lived a creative life that includes painting, illustrating, songwriting, playing guitar all influenced by everything I love and spending time in the outdoors. Eventually I graduated in 2002 from Boise State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art.
This past year I have had the honor to be the Artist-In-Residence for the Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent hiking through this landscape I love and creating a body of work that I hope will inspire the public to explore and appreciate the Sagebrush Steppe that covers southern Idaho.
Primarily, I paint with acrylics on canvas, but I also use pastels, watercolor and oils, and my iPad and Apple Pencil, whatever the project calls for. Most of the time my compositions and illustrations begin with a piece of charcoal or a good ol’ sharpened pencil.
