Although I was born in Boise, I moved to Pocatello at a young age and grew up there.
I attended Idaho State University where I received a BA in Art in 1970—at the time I enjoyed sculpture the most of the art disciplines.
I began painting in watercolor in 1980 while living in Twin Falls, Idaho. I took a watercolor course at the College of Southern Idaho and found it both challenging and rewarding.
I joined the Idaho Watercolor Society regional chapter in Pocatello and have stayed active in the group after moving to Boise in 1996. I participate in regional art festivals and enter shows, mostly locally, and have enjoyed opening my studio for the BOSCO annual tours.
Artist’s Statement:
I have been able to travel in the last few years; I take photos of the things I see that suggest a painting. I look for scenes that suggest atmosphere or register a feeling, or show a moment of time.
I inject my own feelings about what I paint into my work because what I am painting I find beautiful in its unique way and I want to show that to the viewer.
