Sandra Berkson

Through the years nature has always been my main source of inspiration.

Over the past two years my artwork has changed due to moving several times. Having landed in Star, Idaho has recreated time for reflection. I saw our place on earth as ever changing with the urban moving toward the suburbs that are now moving toward the rural areas.  There is a continuous struggle with the ambiguous balance between man and nature. This has always concerned me.

In recent years it has been rewarding to spend fulltime on my art practice and continue with my passion for drawing, painting and mixed media. My paintings are abstracted and developed by an intuitive process. Some of the many materials used are acrylics, oils, wax, pastels, graphite, and collage. The artwork can develop quickly or gradually to arrive at the final composition using a method of addition and subtraction revealing the essence of the finished painting. It’s my story of memories linked between reality and imagination. The finished artwork is also an invitation to the viewer to speculate on their own meaning and connection to the art before them.

Artist Bio

I was born in California and resided in the San Francisco Bay Area where I attended the California College of Arts and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in painting and drawing. To further my studies, I attended the Academy Of Art University in San Francisco, and graduated with highest honors, earning a Masters degree.  I currently live in Star, Idaho.

Since childhood I have had a lifelong interest in drawing and painting, mainly focused on nature.  Also my experiences of travelling throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and Asia have left me with an accumulation of memories and influences.
